Application Process

Our enrollment advisors will guide you through each step of the process, from application to arrival. 

Important Milestones

Your Gateway journey begins here. Explore the sections below to help you navigate each step of the process.

1.  Submit a Free Application

Complete a free Gateway online application through our recruitment partner, INTO University Partnerships. Please make sure to include all required documents.

2. Receive a Response from an Enrollment Services Advisor

An enrollment services advisor will contact you within 48 hours of completing an application to confirm we have received all required documents, or let you know if anything further is needed.

3. Expect an  I-20 Certificate

A Form I-20, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status, will be issued for you. Form I-20s will be received through the George Mason International Hub. 

An email will be sent to you with sign-in information allowing you to access the George Mason International Hub.

4. Find Your Inquiry Number

You will be assigned an Inquiry Number (IN) during the application process. Please use this number in any correspondence with your application advisor so they can update you (Example IN: A720XXXXQ).

5. Await an Evaluation Review

We will complete a standard evaluation within 7 business days. Programs requiring a portfolio will need additional evaluation time.

6. Look for an Offer Letter in Your Email

Offer letters are sent by email. Be sure to check all folders, including spam or junk.

7. Confirm Your Place

After you receive your offer letter, you will need to confirm your place.

  1. Sign your offer letter. 

  2. Pay your deposit and submit any outstanding financial documents (there is a link in your offer letter to a portal to submit this payment). 

    • For sponsored students, official confirmation of sponsorship serves as your deposit. 

    • All deposits are non-refundable unless your visa request is denied. Submit the denial letter so we can process a refund.
