Housing

Some study plans require students to live on campus, while others offer the option of off-campus housing.

You are required to live on campus for the length of your Gateway program if you are enrolled in:

Upper-level students—sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduates—have the option of living on OR off campus if you are enrolled in:

On-Campus Housing

On campus housing is available to both graduate and undergraduate students. There are a wealth of styles—apartments, suites, and traditional spaces—to select from. If you would like to live on campus, start your housing application as soon as you can. 

First-year freshman are required to live on campus unless they receive an approved exemption. Exemptions to the university housing requirement may be granted in special circumstances. You can apply for a housing exemption through the housing portal.

There is no on-campus housing at Mason Square.

Off-Campus Housing

Contemporary Student Services provides off-campus students with resources and assists in the transition to off-campus life. You can find listings for off-campus housing near the university using George Mason's Off-Campus Housing Finder.

 

Dining

Living on campus as a George Mason Gateway student means your meals are provided. You’ll be automatically enrolled in the Independence Ultimate meal plan, giving you unlimited access to campus dining so you can focus on classes, friendships, and settling into life at George Mason.
