Gateway's week-long orientation guides you through the first steps of your academic, cultural, and social journey at George Mason.
During mandatory orientation, you will:

Take the English-language placement exam (if studying Academic English)

Complete International Student Check-in Form with immigration advisors to activate SEVIS record

Get a George Mason ID card

Open your university email account

Turn in required health vaccinations and documents

Submit transcripts and test scores

Meet with your academic advisor and confirm your class schedule

Fall 2026 Orientation
Gateway Fall 2026 Orientation will be held in person on the Fairfax campus beginning Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 21. You will receive additional orientation details by email closer to the start of the semester.
