Academic Advising

Academic advisors help students in all Gateway programs to reach their academic goals.

Academic English (AE): Academic English advisors can help you understand your progress and study plan choices. Your advisor can help you apply to George Mason academic programs.

Undergraduate and Graduate: Academic advisors will register you for classes and facilitate a successful transition to your future studies.

Make an Appointment

After the second week of classes, you may request an appointment with an academic advisor

If you do not have an appointment but wish to speak with an advisor, you can ask the desk staff at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) in Room 1305 of the Global Center to see if an advisor is available.

Personal Advising

Academic advisors advise on personal matters of care, conduct, housing, and engagement. If you need personal advising, come to the desk at the LRC in Room 1305 of the Global Center or email Gateway Advising.

Immigration Advising

The university’s Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) coordinates with Gateway on a number of outreach efforts to advise AE, undergraduate, and graduate students on maintenance of F-1 or J-1 status.
